Chalkin' It Up!

I have had this "thing" for chalkboards for several years...Now I am actually making my own!

Here are a few that I have made this past week....

I am new at this, so I hope that my creations only get better!  I know that you see these everywhere, but most of them are not "hand made".  These are 100% my doing, my hand!

Doing a little "catching up"!

 

Several weeks ago, I posted that I had won an awesome canvas from the very talented Christy Tomlinson.  I said that I would post it once it arrived...here is the beautiful creation.

 

Christy even signed the back of the canvas for me!  She acutally has a video posted on her blog of making this canvas.  I watched it the day it came out, but had no idea it would be on it's way to my house!

 

I am so excited to have this in my craft room!  Thank you to Christy!

I also said that I would let you know if I placed at the State Fair with my canvas...Unfortunately, I didn't place this year.  It is a bit of a disappointment, but I will just try again next year!

He's Baaaccckkk!

If you are from Texas, you know who I am speaking of!  Today, Husband and I spent the day at The State Fair of Texas.  The weather was perfect.  It was so good to see this guy back on the fair grounds.

 

 

This is what happened to him at the end of the Fair last year.  Tragic.

 

 

In the hall of state, there is a video to watch the process of bringing Big Tex back in just one year...It was a major undertaking, but it was done.  There are some differences...Not sure that I love the new version, but at least he is back. I have to say....the new boots....not liking them!  They are way too big for him!  That seems so funny to say because he is BIG.  But the boots are just not right!

Welcome Back "Big Guy"!

Birthday Celebration....

Yesterday, I spent some time with two of my sweet friends.  We went to lunch and did some paper crafting! 

Carolyn and Shelby both surprised me with awesome birthday gifts...take a look!

Shelby made me this Awesome Halloween frame home decoration.  It is fabulous with lots of detail!  She knows that I am ALL about the details!  Isn't it awesome?  I know you want one!  I am proud to add this to my decorations this year!


Carolyn made me this sweet pop up gift card box!

Inside was a gift card to Michael's and a bag of M & M's....uh, yeah, those are gone!  What a sweet box and awesome gift!  I know, you want one of these too!!!

The Art of Chalk Lettering! Crazy! It's always crazy the day before the class.. putting final touches on everything. It's My Birthday!

 

 

 

State Fair of Texas

I have been working on a few things for the Creative Arts Dept. for the fair this year.  I first started on this canvas and didn't like where it was going so I put it down for several months.  I picked it up again a couple of months ago and this is the result.  I really love how it turned out.  I have been wanting to submit a mixed media project for this years entry, but wasn't sure it was going to happen.  I am happy to say that it was delivered to the Fair this past weekend and now I have to wait! 

 

 

 

 

I will post the result when I find out...keeping my fingers crossed!!

Toil & Trouble....

This is what I have been working on lately...I have a Halloween swap that I am making cards for as well as a cute treat bag to share!

This treat bag uses new craft & chevron sacks from SU!'s new Holiday catalog.  The clothespin on the top is not SU!.  This is not my original design.  I did copy this project! 

 

 

Here is a close up of the medallion that I made using several punches and our new Chevron ribbon!  Love this ribbon!

Using the treat bag for inspiration, this is my Halloween swap card.  That Toil & Trouble set is so cute and is going to get me in trouble because I have to have it!  In addition, I used Crumb Cake cardstock, doilies and the new Chevron stamp for this card.

Vintage Finds....

Recently, my husband and I started the task of going through some family storage units.  This is going to be a BIG project to get done.  Baby steps, I guess!

I found these baby shower cards for my husband's arrival way back in 19, uh, well, maybe I shouldn't go there!  These cards are small, sweet and in awesome condition!  Most of them were .10,as  indicated on the back of the cards. These are the kinds of things that make me so excited when I find them at Estate Sales, but these have so much more meaning since they were for my sweet husband!  Back then, it was a surprise if you were having a boy or girl!  It looks like most people went more towards a boy with their card choices!  Lots of blue!

I even found the Thank You card that his mom sent for all of the gifts received for her sweet baby boy! 

I know husband thinks I am crazy to LOVE stuff like this, but I always have!  What a great find!

Happy Anniversary!

This past week, my husband and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary!  These are the beautiful and massive vase of flowers that he sent to me.  I wasn't home when they were delivered, so I had to go retrieve them from my neighbor who almost didn't let me leave with them!!



My picture doesn't do them justice...I didn't even take the time to clear the space before taking the pic!

JULY STAMP CLUB....

Last night was my monthly stamp club meeting...we were missing several girls due to them being out of town!   It was a small group, but super fun!  I also enjoyed welcoming a new member to our stamp club!  Jenni joined last night and here is the card that she made as one of our projects for the evening...

We used 2 new stamp set from the NEW Annual Catalog, released June 1st.  Hello Lovely and Gorgeuos Grunge!  Didn't Jenni make an awesome card with these sets? 

The second project that we made last night was this box.....

These boxes are Tag A Bag Gift Boxes and are also new this year!  They are a nice size box and would be great to use for giving small gifts, cookies or even a T-shirt!  Yes, a rolled up T-shirt fits in this box! These come with the box base and a clear sleeve that covers the base.  With this project, we made a cover for the box and then you add the clear sleeve.  We cut out hand made feathers and did some stamping to complete it!  Super Cute!

Both of these projects were made at Convention that I can't believe was already 2 weeks ago!  I couldn't resist sharing them with my club girls!

Gifts......

I want to share the gifts that I received from my convention roommates.  It is a tradition to make gifts for the girls that you share your space with while away from home!  Not only is it fun to receive, but it is just as fun to give!  I will share the things that I made on another post, so stay tuned.

For this post I am featuring my crafty sister, Carolyn.

This is a beautiful Cross that she made for me.  I love it and the vintageness that she added to it.  She knows what I like! 

This is a package of Card Candy that she made for a swap that she was in while at convention.  She made me one too!  These are so fun, I don't know if I can use them because I just love to look at them!  Thank you Carolyn for your awesome "roomie" gifts!  Oh, she also gave me (at the airport before we left) a goodie bag that included a journal and pen, sticky notes and treats for the trip!  I love to be spoiled and my Stampin' Sisters delivered this year!

I am back from Stampin' Up! 2013 Convention!

What a great time!  6000 demonstrators took over Salt Lake City this past week!  It was crazy, fun!

This year I celebrated my 5th Anniversary with the company.  Here is my walk across stage.  Jessica also celebrated her walk with me!

Happy to Celebrate with Jessica!  It was fun to be up on stage.  I didn't realize the floor was  so "cushy" up there !

Exterior House Gets Painted!

So for the last several weeks, I have been working on a project!  Getting the exterior of the house painted!  I finally received bids, and choose the contractor.  Today we get started.  I am so ready for the house to have a fresh look.  Unfortunately, the power washing revealed that more wood needs to be replaced than originally thought.  It is what it is, and lets move on with this project...
